WHO I AM

About us
Words from Renate Kirchner, CEO of Prohelse.

"The idea for Arctic Matcha Tea began to grow over 20 years ago, when I first traveled to Northern Norway. At that time, I was unaware that there were herbs in Norway that could be used to make tea – until I was introduced by a friend, Frederike Schmidt, to the art of drying herbs for tea. Today, this project has become my passion: sharing the unique tradition of Norwegian herbal teas with the world.

The Discovery of Arctic Matcha in Norway
During my journey, I learned that herbs in Norway were historically used more for food than for drinking. This explained why I had heard of teas from Japan, China, Sri Lanka, and Russia, but never from Norway. Initially skeptical about whether the herbs I found in the wild could really produce tea like the kind known in Europe, I embarked on a journey into the mountains. And I discovered that it was indeed true: the wild herbs grew here in perfect harmony with the forest. I wanted to preserve the essence of each herb while finding a way to make it easy to consume, and the only way to do this was in a powdered form. This refinement technique has long been known in Asia, and is called Matcha. But since I wanted to use Arctic wild herbs in powdered form, the name Arctic Matcha was "born." So different, so pure, and so authentic, as only the Norwegian North can offer in its entirety.

Arctic Matcha Tea – A Unique Product
Arctic Matcha is not just tea – it’s a discovery, an experience, and a lifestyle. Arctic healing plants have powerful health benefits for the entire body; they function like a repair workshop. Our philosophy is based on the belief that the true value of tea lies in its natural purity and sustainability. This Arctic Matcha, made only from Arctic healing plants, grows entirely wild and in harmony with Norwegian nature, without pesticides, artificial fertilizers, or irrigation. It is a product that carries the purity and power of nature, grown in the midnight sun, quickly and intensely in a challenging climate, making this tea particularly rich in active ingredients. It is a unique product – the first and only matcha that grows from and in the untouched wilderness of Norway. Arctic Matcha promotes energy as well as relaxation, has a positive effect on the entire organism, is particularly rich in antioxidants, supports overall well-being, and is naturally caffeine-free.

Our Philosophy
Inspired by this discovery, I decided to dedicate myself fully to the world of herbal teas. After many years of learning and research, we now focus exclusively on natural, wild herbal teas that grow in complete harmony with their surroundings. Our teas are more than just a product – they are an expression of sustainability, innovation, and a deep connection to nature.

Our Success
Five years after the founding of Arctic Matcha Tea, we received a patent for the health-promoting properties of our tea – proof of the extraordinary quality and unique benefits that Arctic Matcha offers. Today, nearly 15 years after the initial idea emerged, we are a tea and herb manufacturer with an online store in Norway and orders from all over the world. It is truly a blessing to run a company that is dedicated to creating a sustainable, extraordinary product and sharing it with the world.

"The entire Arctic nature in a cup" 🌿

"Matcha means 'ground tea.' Arctic Matcha refers to the region where the herbs originate. It's made from 100% Arctic herbs ground into a fine powder, giving the tea its distinctiveness.

We've refined Arctic wild herbs into Arctic Matcha tea. The preparation method reveals a key difference from other teas: the powder remains in the drink. This means you consume the leaves entirely, not just the dissolved nutrients from them.

Preparing a cup of tea is straightforward: Brew about 0.5 grams of Arctic Matcha powder with preferred 80-degree hot water. For a creamy Matcha latte, simply stir the powder with a glass of milk, or as a vegetarian alternative, oat and almond milk.

The wild herbs we use for our Arctic Matcha are rich in bioactive compounds. Due to its special treatment, Arctic Matcha powder contains large amounts of healthy nutrients, including B vitamins (including folate), iron, potassium, magnesium, and various secondary plant substances. Many of these nutrients have antioxidant properties that protect cells from free radicals.

This makes Arctic Matcha a functional food product. Whether it's essential fatty acids nourishing the brain, antioxidants combating free radicals, or bioactive peptides strengthening the immune system, these magical ingredients have been praised for their ability to promote health, aid in weight loss, and combat diseases naturally.

By exploring the world of functional foods and their potential benefits, you can take the first step towards a healthier and more radiant lifestyle."
